The Art of John Byam Shaw

John Byam Shaw (1872-1919) is an English artist associated with the Golden Age of

Illustration.

The John Byam Shaw Collection at Spirit of the Ages includes art images from some of Shaw's seminal work. As a valuable reference resource, options are also provided for purchasing a range of gifts, including reproduction prints, posters and greeting cards.

Byam Shaw studied at the Royal Academy Schools and worked in a variety of media, including oils, watercolours, pastels, pen and ink. In addition to producing a large

number of paintings, he also contributed to illustrated books through commissioned

work. In his later career, he established the Byam Shaw School of Art and influenced the

development of many artists, including Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale.
